If you have children, chances are you have heard the phrase “it takes a village.” This phrase rings true completely for me because for me to be the wife and mom I am, it really takes the helping hands of others, specifically my mom and my sister. I am blessed to be able to make my own schedule for the most part while balancing substitute teaching, my photography business, and blogging. We all work together and have flexible schedules, so it’s easy for me to commit to subbing even at the last minute. Kenley is still in half day preschool so if I get called to sub, I have to make sure someone can get her from school. 99% of the time, it falls on them. They are gracious with their time and their energy, and I am so glad I have them in my village!
Thank you doesn’t ever seem to be enough, so I decided to do a little something extra for them since Mother’s Day is coming up! It’s a very simple gift, but the smallest of gestures can make the biggest impact.
mason jar (any size)
paint (I used a matte chalk paint)
paint brush or sponge brush
If your mason jar is older, wipe it off with rubbing alcohol. For new jars, use a window cleaner to clean it.
Start by taping off where you DON’T want paint. For this project, I wanted the middle of the jar to remain clear, so I taped that part off. This is where you can really get creative!
Once your tape is evenly on, begin to paint! Be sure to adhere to the instructions on the paint you use. This specific one called for 2 hours of drying time in between coats, but it dried nicely with one coat.
When the paint is completely dry, remove the tape.
Now they are ready for flowers! I picked up a few fake flowers, trimmed them to fit, and arranged them in the vase. Voila! The perfect gift to say Thank YOU to my mom and sister! The only thing left is to package them to gift on Mother’s Day.
When I was at Walmart picking up the flowers, I grabbed some American Greetings tissue paper, gift bags, and these sweet PS Hello Cards to include with their gift. PS Hello cards are so cute- and they have them for any occasion! If you purchase 2 cards, you can earn $2.00 with Ibotta. I can’t get over how bright and fun these gifts bags are, either! It’s the perfect complement to these Mother’s Day gifts.
Whether it’s a friend needing a smile or mom this Mother’s Day, make her day special – find everything at Walmart including gift packaging, gifts, and don’t forget the PS Hello cards that are perfect for any occasion! Stock up this summer so you can thank the others in your village anytime you need.
