Let’s talk about scars for a minute. Everyone has them. I had a nasty one on my knee for the longest time, but more recently my scars are from having some pesky moles removed. I had three removed this winter, with the noticeable ones being on my wrist/forearm and near my armpit. With summer right around the corner and short sleeve/tank top weather at the forefront, I want to get these scars less noticeable. We spend a lot of time at the pool, and my favorite workout clothes are sleeveless. I don’t have time to be self conscious about the visible scars on my arms, so I am already prepping my skin for summer! Here’s my 3 step plan:
Getting rid of that dead layer of skin on your body is vital to your skins health. After my skin takes a beating during the winter, I can’t wait to exfoliate! I use this homemade sugar scrub but you can use any scrub you love. Exfoliating before you shave your legs can get you the smoothest results by getting rid of those dead skin cells. It can also improve your skins texture, making it an essential first step in prepping your skin for summer.
Keeping your skin soft and moisturized is another must! Hydrated skin looks healthier, and provides protection against heat and sun. Moisturized skin looks younger because your skin has higher elasticity. This also means you develop less wrinkles- which, is definitely a plus.
I have several visible scars from prior acne, mole removals, and scrapes from when I was younger. Before shorts and tank top season hits, I am taking care of my scars with Mederma® Advanced Scar Gel. Just one application a day reduces the appearance of scars, even old ones from years ago. I had a mole removed on my face in college and used Mederma® Advanced Scar Gel then and was really pleased with the results. Most people don’t know that scar is there, even though it is still slightly visible.
The mole I had removed on my wrist is healing well, but I know with continued use, Mederma® Advanced Scar Gel will help diminish the discoloration of this scar.
I also have a few scars on my face and chest that I would like to see less of, and since the weather is warming up, I turn to Mederma® Scar Cream Plus SPF 30.
