2015 started off really well as far as my health and fitness routines were going. I ran my first 5K, I was consistently making time to workout, I LOVED Piyo, and I was losing inches but not necessarily pounds. I was making it a point to track my steps, my sleep, and my calories and was doing really, really well.
Then harvest hit. It was one of the craziest harvests in recent memory, with no rain breaks or weather related anything. The guys went 6 straight weeks of working before the sun came up and coming home well after the sun was down. It was tough some days just to keep everyone fed, at school, laundry done, not to mention fall is my busiest photography season. I massively fell off the bandwagon. My exercise went from great to non-existent and I have indulged in far too many cravings, especially with the holidays.
That changes now. I am not really a New Year’s resolution type of person, but I know that I need to start putting my health a little higher on the list of priorities!
A Workout Program
I do best when I have a program to follow with a schedule, and that’s why I love Piyo so much! I plan to also add in some weight training and cardio. Find something that works for you and follow a schedule. Write it in your planner. Make a note in your phone.
I find that if I am drinking at least 100 oz of water a day, I feel SO much better. To change things up, I add fresh lemon, lemon essential oil, lime essential oil, and always plenty of ice.
Make time for regular exercise.
30 minutes a day can make a huge difference in how you sleep, your stress level, and I learned in a recent article in the Healthy Living Made Simple Magazine at Sam’s Club that “areas on your body that need extra attention are best served by regular exercise.” I find that even a 3o minute walk outside (or on the treadmill!) or a quick yoga workout makes a huge difference in my attitude. Taking that time for yourself is a great way to live healthy.
Keep track of your workouts and caloric intake.
I wear a FitBit Charge HR daily, and when I work out, I also wear a polar watch. I like being able to push myself for the next calorie burn goal and track my heart rate, sleep, and steps. It’s how I keep myself accountable!
Sam’s Club offers the things I need to keep myself and my family healthy for the upcoming year.
