The holidays are such a special time for our family. The kids are older now, the magic is still very much alive, and there is a more “go with the flow” theme that runs through our home. The older the kids get, the easier things seem. It’s not all unicorns and rainbows, but they are more helpful and able to pitch in.
This doesn’t mean that I have forgotten what it was like to have babies at home during the holidays. Our family grew this year with the arrival of my niece in September, and next year we will add one more as I am getting a nephew in March. Even though we are a diaper free house in regards to my own kids, this doesn’t mean I am totally diaper free! We spend a lot of time with my niece making diapers still pertinent to my house. My sister changed a lot of diapers for me when my kids were little, so I try to help out as much as I can!
The holidays are so busy, and new moms are trying to juggle sleep schedules, feeding schedules, not to mention the gift-buying, wrapping, and food-preparing that comes along with it. I remember these days. I remember them so vividly because the holidays nearly broke me as a new mom. I was so tired, so overwhelmed, and would have rather stayed inside snuggling my babes than race to ONE MORE THING. I was more of a Grinch than a Clark Griswold. I wanted my kids to stay on schedule, and sometimes that didn’t happen. Every task on my list seemed unattainable. As we spend time with family, I want to be a bright spot in my sister’s holiday season. I want to be helpful to her so that the magic of Christmas is something she remembers, even with a new baby in diapers!
To help her out, I purchased Huggies Snug & Dry diapers to keep at my house. That way, if she is running low in her bag, it’s one less worry! I store them in an extra drawer in one of my hutches in the dining room. Out of sight, but definitely not out of mind. Huggies Snug & Dry diapers feature four layers to absorb moisture quickly and offers up to 12 hours of protection for more quality time with baby. Additionally, Huggies Snug & Dry diapers feature a wetness indicator that lets parents know when it’s time for a diaper change and also include fun, Disney designs featuring Mickey Mouse. My sweet niece doesn’t mind diaper changes — yet — and I love getting to coo and talk to her during it!
Did you know that One-in-three families (36%) in the U.S. struggle with diaper need, or struggle to provide enough diapers needed to keep their baby or toddler clean, dry, and healthy? That number is astounding to me! As the founding sponsor of the National Diaper Bank Network since 2011, Huggies through its No Baby Unhugged program has provided ongoing support for the organization and has donated more than 200 million diapers and baby wipes, including critical donations during times of crisis, to those in diaper need. For every pack of Huggies purchased at Meijer through December 23, Huggies and Meijer will donate a day’s worth of diapers and Meijer will donate $1 to the National Diaper Bank Network. Even if my own kids aren’t in diapers, I can still contribute to this cause by helping my sister out. Being able to help other babies thrive in a less than ideal situation brings me a sense of joy.
