The living room & dining room in this house are my favorite rooms. Probably because I never had a separate dining room before, but mostly because WINDOWS. There is so much natural light, which we did not have before. I am in love. These were the rooms that I dreamt about all those months that we knew we were moving.
It’s finally ours, and we are loving it!
The inspiration for the shelves on the wall came from here and Brandon ended up using more boards from the old corn crib, just like the farmhouse table. We opted to not sand them too much or run them through the planer, so that the antiqued look would still be intact. I love the focal point they give as well as not having a different spin on a gallery wall.
This blue hutch was a find at Third Sunday Market in Bloomington. I just HAD to have it, and I love the touch of color. It houses my big bowls and my fine china for now, with some of it still unused. Our wedding photo was a focal point in the old house, and it remains the same here. This photo is one of my most treasured possessions! The vases are from IKEA– they were a maroon color, so I bought some stone looking spray paint (Krylon Make it Stone) and painted them.
This hutch is from IKEA and I LOVE how uncluttered it is now that I have storage in the basement. My FiestaWare is proudly displayed, and I was even more thrilled when our family photos fit perfectly above. The cabinet to the left that you can’t really see is a built in that houses more bowls, crock pots, the griddle, my soup pots, and my smaller kitchen appliances. Love that cabinet!

View of the living room from the dining room, then of the dining room from the living room. SO much natural light, I just love it. I loved decorating these rooms, and I am really excited to decorate for the holidays!
