We started 2019 off with a family vacation to Anna Maria Island, Florida. You can read more about it HERE. It was so nice to get away on our first family road trip, and start the year off with some quality time together. Now that we are back into the groove of our normal schedule, I am trying to make sure we don’t lose our family quality time. Here are a few ways I am trying to remain intentional with our family time in 2019:
Weekly Date Night
Now that the kids are older, we tend to take them out with us! Friday nights are usually spent either at a friends house having dinner and playing, or doing something fun with the kids. Cold, winter months mean indoor popcorn and movie nights! We have recently tried watching some of these Christian movies for families. It’s a great way to slow down and enjoy some quality time together.
Eat Dinner Together.
This one is a little bit trickier due to schedules, but for the most part, we are able to eat dinner together nearly every night. Spring and fall are tougher because of farming, but winter is definitely better! We use this as a time to catch up with the kids about their day, and hash out the next day’s events.
Winter makes this a little tougher, but we love to be outside as a family when we can. We take the golf cart down to the creek, check out crops when we can, play baseball, and work in the landscaping. Getting the kids outside and active is great for them, as well as for us!
I’m sure as the kids get involved in more extra-curricular activities, these will become harder to do on a daily or weekly basis. My hope is that with consistency over time, these will form life-long habits of spending time with my kids.
