I first visited Dallas almost two years ago when I came down to see my friend Sheana AND we were extras in Hoovey the Movie! I intended to get here last year, but then we moved and the timing was off. Fast forward to November when I found round trip tickets for $160, and my plan to get here was officially in motion.
Last time I was here, Sheana was still pretty new to the area, but now that she’s been here awhile, we did a LOT of her favorite things around Dallas– so here’s the recap!
I got off the plane around 3:30pm, then headed to the Saltgrass Steakhouse. I had the cheesesteak sandwich and soup, and their queso with brisket was incredible! Very cool atmosphere, and I loved the food. From there, we headed to the apartment, dropped my stuff then went to see The Wedding Ringer, which was really funny.
We caught the 10:30am showing of Annie and then ate at Snuffer’s Restaurant and Bar. Sheana bragged about their cheese fries, and they did not disappoint! Neither did the Bacon Cheeseburger we shared. SO good. Also a cold beer on a Monday because VACATION. We spent the remainder of the day browsing some stores, and getting some home decor items for Sheana’s apartment.
Sheana had a Groupon for the Dr. Pepper museum in Waco, and because Dr. Pepper is my weakness, we decided to go there. It was actually really interesting! It’s amazing that so much of the history of Dr. Pepper is preserved, from the original equipment used to the original well that was dug to get the water. This place has SO much history! The best part? Getting a Dr. Pepper on my way out– made the old fashioned way with the old school fountain. I am ruined on Dr. Pepper forever now.
After we finished up at the museum, we headed back to Sheana’s to rest a bit and get dressed for dinner at The Reunion Tower. We went to the observation deck of the Reunion Tower and took a few photos. Such a stunning view!
After we checked out the observation deck, it was time to get checked in for dinner. We ate at Wolfgang Puck’s 560 restaurant at the top of the Reunion Tower.
The restaurant spins so you get a complete view of the Dallas skyline. And the food? Out of this world! We had the Lobster and Shrimp spring rolls and the Pork Belly pot stickers as appetizers, the BEST wine I have ever had, and I ordered the Crispy Quail in General Tso’s sauce, while Sheana had sushi and the lobster fried rice. For dessert? I had the chocolate mousse and she had the Baked Alaska. Incredible. I could have licked every single plate. Our waiter was excellent as well!
Stay tuned for the rest of my trip’s highlights!
