I was provided a copy of this book as part of the Fringe Hours Launch Team. My thoughts and love for this book are completely my own!
When I attended the Influence Conference in 2012, Jessica Turner was one of the speakers. I attended her session on Affiliate Marketing and I was blown away by her blog, her voice, and her writing style. I have been a reader of her blog since then, and truly think she has such a gift!
This past November, I signed up to be on the launch team for her new book, The Fringe Hours, and I am SO glad I did.
As a wife and mom (and human being, let’s just be honest) it is important for me to take the time to do things that I love. It can be as simple as enjoy a cup of coffee without reheating it three times or committing to making my work outs a priority. Your Fringe Hours are about making the time for YOU. Before writing this book, Jessica surveyed 2000 women to see where our issues with balance, guilt, and comparison stem from. With that, she is able to teach us HOW to make the most of our fringe hours while still being a great mom, wife, employee, boss, daughter, sister, and friend.
“You are never too busy to make time for what you love. It’s just a matter of prioritizing– evaluating how you spend your days and dedicating time for what you value. If something is really important to you, you will find a way to fit it into your life.”
Before reading this book, I truly thought that the only way I would accomplish the things on “my list” were to get up wayyy before the kids. That worked for a day or so, but then I was so tired in the evenings, that I was internally wishing that it was bedtime. This is NOT quality time with my family at the end of the day! The key is to use those little pockets of time throughout your day.
For me, it is reading while I drink my coffee in the morning, or while I sit in the chair and rock with Kenley when she first wakes up. It’s watching Property Brothers while I am on the treadmill. It’s taking a book with me when I go to the doctor or other places where I have to wait. Using my Fringe Hours helps me break up my day intentionally instead of getting to the end of the day with no steam left and being frustrated that I am meeting everyone else’s needs but my own.
This book is a must read for ALL women. Mom’s, college age, middle age, older– I don’t care how old you are or what you do for a living, this book is a MUST read. It really has changed the way I view my day, for the better. I challenge you to read this book, give it as a gift, and really truly allow Jessica’s words to shift the way you think about how you spend your time. You won’t regret it!
